September 29 (SeeNews) - Crosco, a member of Croatian oil and gas group INA, has begun drilling for gas in the Poltava region of Ukraine, INA said.
It is the first of 12 planned boreholes in the region based on contracts Crosco had won in an international tender and signed this summer with the Ukraine's national gas company Ukrgasvydobuvannya (UGV), INA said in a statement earlier this week.
These contracts totaling 47 million euro ($55.5 million) mark Crosco's return to Ukraine after a pause of almost 20 years.
The Croatian company plans to launch drilling on the second borehole in the first half of October.
In August, Ukrgasvydobuvannya said it has signed a deal with Crosco for the drilling of 12 natural gas wells in Egypt and Iraq starting in the third quarter of 2017.
Zagreb-based Crosco is an integrated onshore and offshore drilling and well services contractor.
