September 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer prices increased by 12.3% year-on-year in August, after rising by the same annual rate the month before, the national statistical office said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) went up 0.1% in August, following an increase of 0.4% in July, the Bureau of Statistics said in a monthly inflation report.
The prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the biggest weight of 25.93% in the consumer basket, rose by 19.2% year-on-year in August.
The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel prices, which have a 16.87% weight, grew by 10.5% on the year in August, while transportation costs surged 14.1%.
Croatia's average annual inflation accelerated to 2.6% last year from 0.1% in 2020.
In July, the central bank said that inflation is expected to speed up to 9.4% this year before slowing down to 4.6% in 2023.
