ZAGREB (Croatia), October 14 (SeeNews) - Croatia's state-owned motorway management company Hrvatske Autoceste (HAC) said it has chosen a consortium of local construction companies Colas Hrvatska and Geotehnika as the winner in a tender for the construction of a section of the Zagreb–Sisak motorway.

Of all nine bids submitted in the tender, the most economically favuorable bid of 281.3 million kuna ($43.3 million/37.4 million) has been selected, HAC said in a statement on its website late on Wednesday.

The construction of the 11-kilometre section from Lekenik to Sisak junction is expected to be completed within 24 months.

The construction of the Zagreb-Sisak motorway started in 2006 and the Lekenik-Sisak section is the last one that needs to be completed.

Once operational, the Zagreb-Sisak motorway will allow to reduce driving time between the two cities to around 20 minutes from an hour currently, local media have said earlier.
