January 16 (SeeNews) - In 2016, Croatia's consumer prices fell by an annual average of 1.1% after a 0.5% contraction in 2015, data from the country's statistics office showed on Monday.
In December alone, Croatia turned to an annual inflation of 0.2%, from a deflation of an equal 0.2% in November. This is the first positive annual growth rate in 20 months.
Month-on-month, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) dropped 0.2% in December, after remaining unchanged in November.
Food prices, which have the biggest weight of 27.44% in the consumer basket, increased 1.0% on the year last month, after edging up 0.4% in November.
Annual deflation in the housing and utilities segment, with a 17.05% weight, dropped to 2.5% from 2.9% in November, while in the transport segment (12.33% weight) an inflation of 1.5% was recorded.
