ZAGREB (Croatia), March 28 (SeeNews) - Croatian food, drinks and distribution company Atlantic Grupa [ZSE:ATGR-R-A] opened a new logistics and distribution centre worth 20 million euro ($22.5 million/148.7 million kuna) near Zagreb, where it plans to test autonomous logistic robots, it said on Wednesday.

The company's overall warehousing capacities in the area of Zagreb are integrated in the newly built facility which is located some 16 kilometres from Zagreb, it said in a press release.

During the first phase, a warehousing capacity of 30,000 spots for pallets has been secured, as the modern high-racking facility can expand modularly, in accordance with the business needs.

The site will also be used to test autonomous logistic robots, as Atlantic Grupa has commenced a pilot project of collaboration with a local robotics company - Gideon Brothers - for a robot prototype, intended to transfer cargo of up to 800 kg and drive independently.

On April 15, as soon as the test operations are set to begin, the first such autonomous robots will enter the new facility.

Atlantic Grupa's shares traded at 1,140 kuna on the ZSE on Thursday, by 16:05 CET, unchanged from Wednesday's close.
