August 13 (SeeNews) - Croatia's Rijeka-Zagreb motorway operator (ARZ) has received a 1.4 million kuna ($214,659/188,476 euro) grant to study options for infrastructure upgrade along the Zagreb-Karlovac road section, a project worth 2.2 million kuna, the transport ministry said.
The Zagreb-Karlovac motorway section handles the biggest volume of traffic in the country. The feasibility study is expected to help solve problems related to major traffic congestion, noise levels, inefficient lighting, and more.
A grant contract was signed on Saturday by transport minister Oleg Butkovic, the director of Central Finance and Contracting Agency, Tomislav Petric, and ARZ board chairman Miro Skrgatic, the ministry said in a statement over the weekend..
The grant will be used to finance a part of a feasibility study for modernisation of the oldest motorway section in Croatia, proposing options for its upgrade.
The project is scheduled to last a year.
