June 15 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer price inflation accelerated to 1.9% year-on-year in May from 1.3% in the previous month, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) added 0.4% in May, after rising 0.7% in April, the Bureau of Statistics said in a monthly inflation report.
Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the biggest weight of 27.90% in the consumer basket, climbed 1.5% on the year last month, after rising 1.3% in April.
The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with a 16.22% weight, increased 3.4% year-on-year in May after rising by 2.9% in April. Prices of transport services, which have a 12.58% weight, recorded a gain of 4.1% year-on-year in May, up from an increase of 1.4% in the previous month.
Croatia swung to average annual inflation of 1.1% in 2017, from deflation of 1.1% in 2016.
