Croatia's annual inflation speeds up to 1.3% in April Inflation

ZAGREB (Croatia), May 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer price inflation accelerated to 1.3% year-on-year in April from 1.1% in the previous month, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.

On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) added 0.7% in April, after rising 0.6% in March, the Bureau of Statistics said in a monthly inflation report.

Prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have the biggest weight of 27.90% in the consumer basket, climbed 1.3% on the year last month, after rising 1.2% in March.

The prices of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with a 16.22% weight, increased 2.9% year-on-year in April after rising by 2.8% in March. Prices of transport services, which have a 12.58% weight, recorded a gain of 1.4% year-on-year in April, after they dropped by an annual 0.2% in the previous month.

Croatia swung to average annual inflation of 1.1% in 2017, from deflation of 1.1% in 2016.
