October 16 (SeeNews) - Croatia's annual inflation accelerated to a five-month high of 1.4% in September from 1.0% a month earlier, the country's statistical office said on Monday.
Month-on-month, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 1.5% in September, after remaining flat in August, the Bureau of Statistics said.
Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices, which have the biggest weight of 27.64% in the consumer basket, climbed 3.4% on the year last month, after rising 3.1% in August.
The housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels prices, with a 16.58% weight, declined 0.9% in September after falling 3.0% in August, while the transport segment, which has a 12.48% weight, recorded an annual inflation of 2.2% in September, down from 2.9% in the previous month.
In 2016, Croatia's consumer prices fell by an annual average of 1.1% after a 0.5% contraction in 2015.
