September 18 (SeeNews) - The receiver of Croatia's Agrokor, Ante Ramljak, has filed a motion with a Montenegrin court to protect the assets of the ailing food-to-retail concern in Montenegro from potential foreclosures and evictions, Podgorica-based media reported on Monday.
At the same time, Russia's Sberbank has filed a lawsuit with the Montenegrin commercial court, requesting the dismissal of the request of Ramljak due to the lack of legal basis for his recognition as a receiver of the company's assets in Montenegro, Dnevne novine newspaper reported.
Last month, a Belgrade court rejected a motion to treat Serbian companies which are part the Agrokor concern in line with the provisions of Croatia's special law on systemically important companies.
On April 10, the Croatian government appointed Ramljak as receiver of Agrokor to lead a restructuring process in the country's largest private concern under a new law on systemically important companies adopted by the parliament a week earlier. The law, commonly known as 'Lex Agrokor', was drafted by the government in response to the financial woes of Agrokor.
