April 3 (SeeNews) - Croatian manufacturer of plastic products for the automotive industry AD Plastik [ZSE:ADPL-R-A] said on Friday its two plants in Russia will remain closed by the end of April in compliance with Moscow's decision to declare a non-working month because of the coronavirus spread.

"We hereby inform the investment public that the decision by the President of the Russian Federation was made yesterday on declaring April as non-working month in Russia. According to the aforementioned decision, our Russian factories will not operate during that period," AD Plastik said in a statement with the Zagreb bourse.

On Monday, the company said it was closing down its Russian plants in line with a previous decision by the Russian president to declare a non-working week in the country.

AD Plastik has eight production plants in five countries - three in Croatia, two in Russia, and one each in Hungary, Serbia and Romania, employing some 2,900 workers in total.

Last week, the company said its operations had been affected by the temporary shutdown of car making plants of Bentley and Volkswagen due to the coronavirus crisis.

AD Plastik's Hungarian plant is a supplier for Bentley Motors, while the closure of Volkswagen Group's factories in Russia had resulted in reduced orders for AD Plastik's Russian plant in Kaluga.

Earlier in March, AD Plastik said it was suspending most of its operations in Croatia, Serbia and Hungary as its global customers halted production due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The company's shares traded up 6.97% at 130.5 kuna ($18/17 euro) on the Zagreb Stock Exchange by 11:47 CET on Friday.
