February 5 (SeeNews) - Croatia's technical consumer goods (TCG) market expanded by 5.6% year-on-year to 6.8 billion kuna ($1.0 billion/912 million euro) in 2019, market research company GfK said.
Last year's growth was driven by a 10.6% increase of sales in the segment of major domestic appliances (MDA) - to 1.2 billion kuna, the company said in a GfK TEMAX survey on Croatia published earlier this week.
The segments of information technology (IT), small domestic appliances (SDA) and telecommunications (TC) also expanded in 2019, while consumer electronics (CE) was the only segment to show a decline.
In particular, IT sales in Croatia jumped 7.2% on the year to 685 million kuna in 2019, SDA sales increased by 6% to 433 million kuna and TC sales, which dominate the TCG segment, rose by 5.1% to 3.7 billion kuna, GfK said.
CE sales, on the other hand, being the third most important TCG segment, dropped by 1.1% to 752 million kuna in 2019.
GfK's technical market index (TEMAX) tracks the sales of technical consumer goods in more than 40 countries.
