ZAGREB (Croatia), January 12 (SeeNews) - Tourism and hospitality sectors were the hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic in Croatia, as they saw their combined turnover fall by 45.1% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2020, the country's financial agency, FINA, said on Tuesday.
Arts, entertainment and recreation firms followed with a 30.2% drop in turnover, and administrative and support service entities reported a 26.5% decrease in the review period, FINA said in a statement.
At the other end, companies active in water supply and wastewater disposal saw the highest annual increase in turnover in the first nine months of 2020 - of 23.5%.
In terms of regions, companies in the Dubrovnik-Neretva county saw the biggest annual decrease in turnover in the January-September period - of 46.2%, followed by Istria with a 25.2% fall and the Sibenik-Knin county with a 21.9% drop.
Croatia reported its first coronavirus case on February 25. As of Tuesday morning, the number of people diagnosed with the infection has reached 220,982, including 4,446 deaths, the government said in a statement.
