July 21 (SeeNews) - Croatian blue-chip sugar maker Viro [ZSE:VIRO-R-A] said on Thursday it turned to a non-consolidated net loss of 2.2 million kuna ($323,800/293,900 euro) in the first half from a net profit of 23.8 million kuna in the same period last year.
Viro saw a drop in sugar sales on all markets through June, it said in a bourse filing. On its key local market, it sold 50% less sugar, or 20.6 million kg.
The company's combined sales volumes dropped 69.3% on the year to 31.9 million kg in January-June. Sales revenues thus plunged to 191.3 million kuna from 392.3 million kuna last year.

Viro's shares closed up 1.06% on Wednesday at 285.00 kuna as 2,491 shares changed hands.
