May 11 (SeeNews) - Following three straight sessions of losses, the main equity indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange (ZSE) closed higher in lower trading turnover on Wednesday, bourse data showed.
The 23-share blue-chip index, the CROBEX, gained 0.35% to finish at 2,103.25 points.
The narrower CROBEX10 which tracks the top ten companies in terms of free float, market capitalisation and liquidity, added 0.16% to end at 1,251.46 points.
Strong gains of 8.76%, 7.44% and 5.76% respectively were posted by luxury apparel producer Varteks [ZSE:VART], holding company Djuro Djakovic [ZSE:DDJH] and shipping company Alpha Adriatic [ZSE:ULPL].
Civil engineering company Institut IGH [ZSE:IGH], which is not a member of the main indices, was the biggest gainer on Wednesday. Its share price surged 9.4% to end at 93 kuna in a turnover of some 267,500 kuna.
Food and pharmaceuticals producer Podravka [ZSE:PODR] was the only share with a turnover above the one million kuna mark. Its shares dipped 0.33% to end ay 606 kuna in a turnover of 1.1 million kuna ($154,000/145,000 euro).
The ZSE's total trading turnover dropped to 5.2 million kuna on Wednesday from 8.5 million kuna on Tuesday.
