June 21 (SeeNews) - Croatian retailer Konzum, part of ailing concern Agrokor, said it has opened a Super Konzum shopping centre in Supetar, on the island of Brac.
The company revealed no further details.
According to local media reports, the retailer is due to close down 80 to 100 stores.
Konzum is due to close the stores to boost profitability as its parent company undergoes a restructuring process, news agency Hina reported.
The retailer also plans layoffs, Hina said, quoting the CEO of Konzum, Slavko Ledic.
He noted that Konzum's shelves are stocked for the summer season and that suppliers remain willing to cooperate despite the large debt owed to them by Agrokor.
Agrokor receiver Ante Ramljak said at the opening of the new store that Konzum is past its most difficult period.
He added that his team will work on improving Konzum's results within the next six months.
