September 8 (SeeNews) - The consolidated profit of Croatia's privately-owned companies totalled 20.2 billion kuna ($3.2 billion/2.7 billion euro) in 2020, down 23.7% on the year, state-owned financial agency Fina said.
A total of 137,227 privately-owned companies generated a total revenue of 640.5 billion kuna last year, down 3.8% compared to 2019, Fina said in a statement posted on its website. These companies increased the number of their employees by 0.6% to 798,960 in 2020, it added.
A total of 932 state-owned Croatian companies reported a consolidated net profit of almost 1.8 billion kuna, up 35.2% on the year. The number of their employees fell 1.7% on the year to 99,147 in 2020.
A total of 360 companies in mixed ownership reported a consolidated net loss of 1.0 billion kuna for 2020, compared to a net profit of 2.7 billion kuna for 2019. They had 48,403 employees, down 10.2% compared to 2019.
The biggest loss makers last year were Fortenova Grupa, the successor to the collapsed food-to-retail concern Agrokor, with a loss of 1.3 billion kuna in 2020, up from 854 million kuna in 2019, and oil and gas company INA [ZSE:INA-R-A], which swung to a loss to 932.8 million kuna in 2020 from a net profit of 655.6 million kuna in 2019.
