January 31 (SeeNews) - State-owned Croatian Post said on Friday it has launched the construction of a 60 million kuna ($8.9 million/8.1 million euro) logistics centre as part of its development strategy up until 2022.
The new centre, situated in Kukuljanovo, near the coastal town of Rijeka, will improve the quality of services provided by the company in western Croatia, Croatian Post said in a statement.
The logistics facility will spread on 5,000 square metres close to the Rijeka-Zagreb motorway and 10 kilometres from the Rijeka city centre. It will feature a photovoltaic plant that will meet its own electricity needs.
With the Kukuljanovo logistics hub, Croatian Post will have four up-to-date centres in its letter and parcel sorting network across the country. Over the past several years the company has invested in the revamp and expansion of its logistics centre in the eastern town of Osijek, the construction of a centre in the coastal town of Zadar, and the opening of a new 50 million euro sorting hub in Velika Gorica, south of Zagreb.
