May 18 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Croatian insurers edged down 0.65% year-on-year to 3.871 billion kuna ($553.4 million/512.3 million euro) in April, the Croatian Insurance Bureau said.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose by an annual 4.3% to 2.9 billion kuna in April, whereas the life insurance segment earned premiums of 981.1 million kuna, down 12.9% compared to April 2019, the insurance bureau said in a monthly report last week.
Croatia Osiguranje was the largest insurance company in the Adriatic country at the end of April, accounting for 27.65% of total gross written premiums. Allianz Zagreb followed with 12.17% and Weiner Osiguranje, part of Vienna Insurance Group, was third with 11.03%.
A total of 18 insurance companies operated in the country at the end of April.
Croatia's insurers earned gross written premiums of 10.5 billion kuna in 2019, up 7% compared to a year earlier.
