September 14 (SeeNews) - The combined gross written premiums of Croatian insurers totalled 6.1 billion kuna ($913.8 million/813.5 million euro) at the end of August, down 0.7% on the year, the Croatian Insurance Bureau has said.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance edged up 0.42% on the year to 4.2 billion kuna for the first eight months of the year, while the life insurance segment posted premiums of 1.9 billion kuna, 3.1% lower compared with a year earlier, the bureau said in a statement on Tuesday.
Twenty-three insurance companies operate in Croatia, following the merger of Sunce osiguranje with Agram Life at the end of last year.
The 24 insurers that operated in Croatia in 2015 posted combined gross written premiums of 8.72 billion kuna for that year, up 1.91% compared to the previous year.
