April 26 (SeeNews) - The Croatian government will lift its economic growth projection for this year to 2.2% from 0.7%, prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Wednesday.
“We have shown a strong level of agility and recovery. Everything suggests that this year all our efforts will bring results as we expect a record (tourist) season,” Plenkovic said, as quoted in a press release published on the government website.
Croatia’s membership in the eurozone and the Schengen area have strong effects on further growth of tourism, he added.
Tourism contributes about a fifth of the country's industry.
Croatia joined the eurozone as its 20th member on January 1, 2023. It also entered the same day the EU's Schengen area of passport-free travel.
In October, the government announced its 2023 budget draft, based on assumption for a 0.7% GDP growth for 2022.
