June 15 (SeeNews) - Electronic communication operators in Croatia increased by an annual 18.5% their total investment in the first three months of the year, the country's telecommunications regulator, HAKOM, said.
Investments in very high capacity networks rose 44.5% on the year, HAKOM said in a statement earlier this week.
The overall revenue generated in the Croatian electronic communications market rose 2.1% on the year in the three months through March, as the revenue from rents of networks and lines went up by the same margin.
Revenue from broadband Internet assess grew by 5.9% on the year to almost 1.291 billion kuna ($179 million/171 million euro) and revenue from paid TV services increased by 3.2% to 215 million kuna in the period under review.
In the fixed-line segment, the number of connections fell by an annual 2% to 1.26 million and operators' revenue dropped 4.62% to some 257 million kuna in the January-March period.
In the mobile phone segment, the number of users increased by 0.97% year-on-year to 4.4 million, while operators' revenue fell 1.28% to some 877.5 million kuna in the review period.
Last year, the overall revenue of the Croatian market of electronic communications rose 3.6% to 11.5 billion kuna, as electronic communication operators increased their total investment by 20.5% to 3.01 billion kuna.
