January 28 (SeeNews) - Croatia's competition agency, AZTN, said on Tuesday it has launched a probe to determine if the Croatian Insurance Bureau and 12 local insurers have breached anti-trust rules by concluding a disallowed agreement.
AZTN said in a statement the 12 bureau members targeted by the probe are Euroherc Osiguranje, Croatia Osiguranje [ZSE:CROS-R-A], Croatia Lloyd Reosiguranje, Hok Osiguranje, Izvor Osiguranje, Jadransko Osiguranje, Sunce Osiguranje, Triglav Osiguranje, Uniqa Osiguranje, Velebit Osiguranje, Basler Osiguranje and Wiener Osiguranje.
The agency will seek to determine whether these companies and the bureau colluded to punish local insurance company Generali Osiguranje for lowering its motor third party liability tariffs by barring it from selling Green Card insurance.
A total of 26 insurers operate in Croatia.
