January 10 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Croatia's airports rose 8.3% year-on-year to 11.1 million in the first eleven months of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
The total number of landings and take-offs increased by 4.4% on the year to 124,809 in January-November, while processed cargo volumes decreased by 7.1% to 10,474 tonnes, the statistical office said in a statement.
In November alone, the airports in the Adriatic country handled 351,000 passengers, up 9.7% on the year, while the overall number of airplane landings and take-offs rose by 3.2% to 5,096. The cargo traffic at the airports declined by 15.2% year-on-year to 860 tonnes in November.
The airport in Zagreb recorded the largest number of passengers in Croatia in November - 244,346 (up 5.4% on the year), followed by Dubrovnik airport with 56,685 passengers (up 114%) and Split airport with 42,859 (down 19%).
Residents of Germany led the list of international passengers at Croatian airports in November as they totalled 99,420 (up 3.6% on the year), followed by the United Kingdom (17,963, up 21.3%), Austria (17,069, up 6.7%), Turkey (15,762, a 5.4% increase) and the Netherlands (14,996, up 18.5%).
