December 11 (SeeNews) - Passenger numbers at Croatia's airports rose 8.3% year-on-year to 10.7 million in the first ten months of 2019, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The total number of landings and take-offs increased by 4.4% to 119,713 in January-October, while processed cargo volumes fell 6.3% to 9,614 tonnes, the statistical office said in a statement.
In October alone, the airports in the Adriatic country handled 1 million passengers, up 12.3% on the year, while the overall number of airplane landings and take-offs rose by 6.2% to 11,175. The cargo traffic at the airports declined by 3% year-on-year to 1,104 tonnes in October.
In October, the airport in Zagreb recorded the largest number of passengers in Croatia - 328,891 (up 3.9% on the year), followed by Dubrovnik airport with 297,639 passengers (up 22.5%) and Split airport with 244,259 (up 9.5%).
Residents of Germany led the list of international passengers at Croatian airports in October as they totalled 254,183 (up 13.3% on the year), followed by the United Kingdom (184,864, up 21.7%), France (58,669, up 2.9%), the Netherlands (37,062, a 17.6% increase) and Austria (35,042, up 4.2%).
