February 17 (SeeNews) - Croatia will sign this week a 350 million kuna ($51 million/47 million euro) contract for the reconstruction of the railway section from Zagreb to Savski Marof, on the border with Slovenia, transport minister Oleg Butkovic said.
The project is part of Croatia's ongoing programme to invest 1.5 billion euro in railway infrastructure upgrade, with the volume expected to rise to 3.5 billion euro by 2030, Butkovic said in a statement on Sunday.
He did not provide the name of the contractor for the Savski Marof - Zagreb project but local media reported last year that railway infrastructure operator HZ Infrastruktura has received only one bid in its tender for the assignment - from a consortium comprising Austria's Swietelsky and Croatia's Dalekovod.
The raiway section linking the Croatian capital to the Savski Marof village is some 25 km long.
