November 29 (SeeNews) - Croatia plans to open a tender for the construction of a 300 million kuna ($44 million/40 million euro) beltway around the Adriatic town of Novi Vinodolski in the middle of 2020, transport minister Oleg Butkovic said.
"This is one of the most problematic points on the Croatian coastline, where every summer Novi Vinodolski gets almost completely blocked by traffic," Butkovic said in a statement on Thursday.
The beltway will be 9.8 kilometres in length and is expected to be opened for traffic in 2022. The project will include a 834-metre long tunnel and a 1.1-km viaduct.
Novi Vinodolski is one of the most frequented tourist destinations in Croatia.
