March 9 (SeeNews) - Croatia's telecommunications regulator, HAKOM, said it will earn almost 339 million euro ($358 million) from a public tender for national licences for the use of the radio-frequency spectrum for mobile communication services, in which the overall starting price was set at 154.8 million euro.
The public tender was completed and the individual radio-frequency bands 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz i 2600 MHz on national level were distributed among the current mobile operators A1 Hrvatska, Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT] and Telemach Hrvatska, according to a press release by Hakom issued on Wednesday.
The new licences will provide continuity of the work of the mobile communication networks because the existing licences for these five radio-frequency bands expire in 2024, it added.
The new licences will be issued for 15 years with an option to be extended by up to five years.
On regional level, Hakom will award licences to two local telecommunications services providers, Digicom and Markoja, for the use of the 3600 MHz band for a total fee of 187,150 euro.
Shares of HT traded 0.39% lower at 25.70 euro on Thursday morning on the Zagreb bourse.
