December 19 (SeeNews) - Croatia's government said it signed a 520 million kuna ($80 million/70.1 million euro) financing agreement for the construction of the DC 403 road connecting the western part of the country's principal seaport of Rijeka with the city ring road.
The European Fund for Regional Development will provide 442 million kuna, representing 85% of the total amount, whereas the rest will come from the state budget, the government said in a statement published on its website on Tuesday.
The three-kilometre road will enable faster delivery and cargo shipping within the Rijeka port, provide new entrance to the centre of Rijeka, shorten travel time, reduce noise and emissions as well as improve the road safety level in the Rijeka area.
A tender for contractors will be called after the funds have been provided, transport minister Oleg Butkovic said, as quoted by the government.
