ZAGREB (Croatia), January 4 (SeeNews) – Croatia's government said on Thursday it took 11 firms off the list of companies which are not for sale because of their strategic importance for the country and added two.
The new entrants are flag carrier Croatia Airlines and operator of sea marinas ACI, the government said in a statement following its weekly session.
The list now contains 40 companies of strategic and special interest, down from 49 previously.
Croatia Airlines and ACI had been formerly on the list but were removed from it by the previous government in 2016.
Among the 11 companies removed from the list on Thursday are industrial holding group Djuro Djakovic, Mali Losinj airport, and motorway operator Autocesta Zagreb-Macelj.
The state property minister, Goran Maric, explained to the media following the session that these companies do not meet the criteria to be on the list, which does not necessarily mean that the government will sell its shares in them.
"For a company to be on the list of strategically important companies, it must be of importance for the country's infrastructure," Maric said, according to the statement.
He added that ACI is set to build a marina in the coastal town of Mali Losinj, which will put into use state property that has been out of use for 27 years.
