December 20 (SeeNews) - Croatia's infrastructure ministry said on Friday it signed a contract worth 376 million kuna ($56 million/50.5 million euro) with Spanish engineering company Comsa for the reconstruction of an 18.7 km railway track in eastern Croatia.
The reconstruction of the Vinkovci - Vukovar railway track should be completed within two years after the launch of works, the ministry said in a press release.
"This project is financed by a grant from the European funds, covering 85% of the total costs [...], it is part of the great investment cycle in the railways," infrastructure minister Oleg Butkovic said.
Currently, the country is investing 1.2 billion euro in the railway infrastructure, as the total investments volume should reach 3.5 billion euro by 2030.
The financing is provided by the European Union's Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020.
