June 19 (SeeNews) - Croatia's power exchange CROPEX said on Tuesday it has merged its day-ahead market with its Slovenian peer, BSP SouthPool, as part of the EU Multi-Regional Coupling (MRC) project.
"On June 19 2018 CROPEX and Croatian transmission system operator (HOPS) together with Slovenian power exchange and transmission system operator achieved the EU MRC day ahead market coupling project on the Croatian-Slovenian border," CROPEX said in a statement.
The first market coupling session resulted in trading volume of 8,283 MWh, with the highest hourly volume of 619 MW.
"Successful realisation of day ahead market coupling project with European coupled market represents historical day for CROPEX and provides significant support for further development of Croatian electricity market," the director of CROPEX, Silvio Brkic, is quoted saying.
CROPEX plans to couple its intra-day market with neighbouring EU intra-day markets in 2019.
