August 6 (SeeNews) - Tourist arrivals to Croatia's coastal cities of Dubrovnik and Split increased by 17% and 9% year-on-year, respectively, in the first seven months of 2019, the tourism ministry said.
A total of 813,340 tourists visited Dubrovnik in January-July this year, whereas tourist visits to Split numbered 517,422, the ministry said in a statement, citing data collected by the country's eVisitor system.
Overnight stays by tourists in Dubrovnik and Split increased respectively by 7% year-on-year to 2.4 million and by 10% to 1.5 million.
In July alone, tourist arrivals to Dubrovnik rose by 5% on the year to 227,905, while overnights added 3% to 795,712. Tourists from the United Kingdom accounted for most of the visits, followed by visitors from the U.S., France, Germany, and Norway.
In Split, tourist arrivals rose 5% to 189,547 year-on-year, while overnights increased by 4% 630,467. Most of the tourists came from the United Kingdom, USA, France and Germany.
