ZAGREB (Croatia), August 12 (SeeNews) – Croatia's telecommunications regulator said it approved on Thursday the bids placed by Italy-based EOLO and local mobile operators Hrvatski Telekom [ZSE:HT], A1, and Telemach in a public auction for allocation of national frequency licences for 5G mobile networks.
A1, Hrvatski Telekom and Telemach were awarded national licences in the 700 Mhz and 3600 MHz frequency bands, the regulator said in a statement on its website.
For the 26 Ghz frequency band, alongside the three Croatian operators, the regulator granted a national licence to EOLO.
At a regional level, licences for the 3600 Mhz frequency band were awarded to BeeIN, Digicom, Eco Net, EOLO, Markoja and Terrakom.
The commission fees for the usage of these radio frequency spectrum total 360 million kuna ($56 million/48 million euro), as the full amount will go to the state budget, it added.
The public bidding procedure for allocation of these frequency bands started on July 12.
The licences will be issued for a period of 15 years and may be extended by up to five years.
New licences in the Medimurje and Varazdin counties will be issued for 13 years, as licences for 5G technology valid until 2023 have already been issued in those regions.
Shares of Hrvatsi Telekom traded at 191,50 kuna on the Zagreb bourse intraday on Thursday, unchanged from the closing price on Wednesday.
