January 4 (SeeNews) - Croatia expects to have generated 13 billion euro ($13.8 billion) in revenue from foreign tourists in 2022, tourism minister Nikolina Brnjac said.
In the first nine months of the year, revenue from foreign tourists totalled 11.641 billion euro, exceeding the central bank's 11.3 billion euro forecast for the full year, Brnjac said in a press release earlier this week.
Revenue from foreign tourists in the January-September period was 43% higher on the year and up 23% compared to pre-pandemic 2019, the press release added, refering to central bank figures.
In the third quarter of 2022 alone, it stood at 8.469 billion euro, up 27% year-on-year and 28% higher compared to the same period of 2019.
Tourism is a key industry for the Croatian economy, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
