October 4 (SeeNews) - In 2021, Croatia's estimated production of maize is to be 2.166 million tonnes, down from 2.431 million tonnes harvested in 2020, the statistical office said.
According to early estimates, the country's output of sugar beet decreased by 17.6% on the year to 774,000 tonnes in 2021, and the production of soya bean fell 4.1% on the year to 266,000 tonnes, the Croatian Bureau of Statistics said last week in its first estimate of the most important late crops in 2021 based on the situation on September 1.
The country expects to harvest 120,000 tonnes of sunflower this year, unchanged from 2020.
Last month, prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said Croatia will aim to increase the annual value of its agricultural output to 30 billion kuna ($4.6 billion/4.0 billion) by the end of 2030 from the current 20 billion kuna.
