July 8 (SeeNews) - Foreign cruise ships to Croatia in the first five months of 2019 numbered 43, up 7.5% on the year, the country's statistical office said.
Foreign ships conducted a total of 171 cruises to the Adriatic country, up 18% compared to January-May 2018, the office said in a statement on Friday.
They carried an overall 247,570 passengers, up 19% on the year.
Cruise ships sailing under the colours of Malta accounted for the highest number of cruises to Croatia, 41, followed by Italy with 36. The biggest number of passengers - 85,165 - were transported by vessels sailing under Italian colours.
The Adriatic city of Dubrovnik was the most popular destination for foreign cruises in the review period, followed by the ports of Split and Zadar.
