July 1 (SeeNews) - Croatia attracted 6.5 million tourists in the first half of the year, as they spent 26 million overnights in the country, tourism Minister Gari Cappelli said on Monday as quoted by the government.
"Apart from a few imbalances in May due to poor weather, everything else is going according to expectations," Cappelli said, as quoted in a government statement.
Figures from the Croatian National Tourist Board show that 6.4 million arrivals and 25.4 million overnight stays were recorded in the Adriatic country in the first half of 2018.
Cappelli stressed that it is important that the number of tourists from Germany and the United Kingdom in the first half of the year defied expectations and showed no decline.
In 2018, tourists from Germany accounted for most foreign tourists' overnights in Croatia, 16.7%.
