March 28 (SeeNews) - State-controlled flag carrier Croatia Airlines [ZSE:CRAL-R-A] said on Tuesday it has signed a codeshare agreement with Air India, effective as of April 1.
Under the deal's terms, Air India will act as a marketing carrier on Croatia Airline's flights connecting Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb to Frankfurt, London, Vienna, Rome and Paris, the Croatian company said in a statement e-mailed to SeeNews.
Croatia Airlines, in turn, will be a marketing carrier of Air India's routes linking Mumbai to London as well as Delhi to Frankfurt, London, Vienna, Rome and Paris, the Croatian air carrier said.
"As part of the agreement, Croatia Airlines, as a regional airline, will obtain an opportunity of strengthening its position on the large and fast-growing Indian market. We believe that our passengers from both India and Croatia will recognise the value of our joint product and the benefits of an even better choice of flights,” the CEO of the Croatian firm, Kresimir Kucko, said in the statement.
The codeshare will initially be implemented on the flights connecting Split, Dubrovnik and Zagreb to Frankfurt, London and Vienna, as a regulatory approval is needed for its application on the other services, Croatia Airlines pointed out.
"We look forward to expanding our relationship with Croatia Airlines in future. The partnership will contribute towards further development of trade, tourism and cultural ties between India and Croatia," the strategy and planning executive director of Air India, Seema Srivastava, said.
In accordance with the 2017 summer schedule, Croatia Airlines will operate more than 100 flights daily and will fly to 39 European destinations in 24 countries. In addition, during the high season, Zagreb will be directly connected to seven Croatian airports.
