June 8 (SeeNews) - Tourist arrivals in Zagreb city and on Croatia's Adriatic coast rose 12% to 2.7 million through May with overnights up 14% to 7.3 million, the country's tourism ministry said.
Tourism is a key industry for Croatia, accounting for around a fifth of the country's gross domestic product.
Croatia's biggest feeder markets through May were Germany with 335,000 arrivals, followed by Austria and Slovenia with just over 200,000 each, the ministry said, quoting data from the country's regional tourism associations.
The Adriatic country reported an 5.6% increase in tourist numbers to 13.13 million in 2014, while overnights were up by 2.6% to 66.48 million.
