July 20 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's Crnogorski Telekom launched a 5G network for all its clients in the capital Podgorica, making it the first entire city in the Adriatic country where this service is available, the telco said.
Crnogorski Telekom's strategic partner in the implementation of this project was South Korea-based tech company Samsung, the telco said in a statement on its website on Tuesday.
In March, Crnogorski Telekom became the first operator to put a 5G network into commercial operation at four locations in Podgorica.
The number of mobile phone subscribers in Montenegro went up 4.1% year-on-year to 1,124,751 at the end of May, according to data from the national telecommunications regulator, EKIP. The mobile penetration rate in Montenegro rose to 181.4% in May from 179.19% at the end of April.
Montenegro, with a population of around 680,000, has three mobile operators - One, Crnogorski Telekom and M:tel. M:tel had a 35.6% share of the overall number of subscribers at the end of May, followed by Crnogorski Telekom with 34.5% and One with 30.0%.
