April 11 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's Crnogorski Telekom [MNG:TECG] has installed the first electric vehicle (EV) charging station in the country - at the Aman Sveti Stefan resort run by local company Adriatic Properties on the Sveti Stefan island, it said.
Crnogorski Telekom plans to install similar chargers in Zabljak, Pljevlja, Cetinje and Tivat by June, in order to expand electric mobility across the country, the company said in a statement published on its website.
"Crnogorski Telekom is a pioneer in the development and application of smart solutions in the country, and by installing the ecosystem of electric car chargers we are upgrading the smart city concept, which the company implements as the leader of the digitisation process in the country," the company's software solutions development expert, Vuk Vukasinovic, said.
By installing a system for electric vehicle charging stations across the country, Montenegro will join the regional interactive map for electric vehicles Puni.hr, Crnogorski Telekom said.
"Besides the installation of electric vehicle chargers, Crnogorski Telekom also offers software that enables user registration, remote e-station management, statistics and monitoring," Vukasinovic said in the statement.
The installation of EV charging stations is also part of the plans of Montenegrin oil products distributor Jugopetrol [MNG:JGPK]. In April 2018, the company said it intends to install two EV chargers at its filling stations in 2019.
