BELGRADE (Serbia), April 25 (SeeNews) – China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) plans to start the construction of an industrial park in the Belgrade suburb of Borca by the end of this year, the Serbian minister without portfolio in charge of innovation, Nenad Popovic, has said.
A total of 300 million euro ($334.5 million) will be invested in the construction of the industrial park, which will be carried out in three phases, Popovic said in Beijing on Wednesday after the signing of agreements for the development of the project, the establishment of a joint venture for its execution, as well as a business plan, according to a Serbian government press release.
About 40 Chinese enterprizes have already expressed interest in launching production activities at the industrial park, which is expected to attract about 1,000 companies with a total of 10,000 employees, Popovic said.
The total investment of the companies that will set up facilities in the industrial park will amount to about 2.0 billion euro, the Serbian government said in September.
A Serbian delegation led by president Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Beijing on April 24 to participate in the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.
