July 24 (SeeNews) - A complaint over the procedure of awarding a contract for the procurement of 400 fully equipped ambulances submitted by an unit of Turkey's Ayan Group of Companies, has blocked the purchase of the equipment,
Bulgarian competition regulator said on Tuesday.
Turkey-based Ambulans Ilkyardım ve Hastane Cihazları ve Tesisileri Sanayi Tic has submitted the complaint, according to Bulgarian Commission for Protection of Competition website.
In March, Bulgaria's health ministry said it opened a 48.7 million levs ($29.1 million/24.9 million euro) tender for the procurement of 400 fully equipped ambulances.
The tender is part of a large investment project, aimed at modernising Bulgaria's emergency medical services, the ministry said at the time. The tender is divided into four lots, envisaging the supply of different types of ambulances.
The contracts will be partially financed with EU funds under operating programme Regions in Growth 2014-2020.
