January 25 (SeeNews) - Chinese investors are contemplating the construction of a $2.6 billion (2.1 billion euro) oil refinery in Serbia's Smederevo, the Serbian council for cooperation with Russia and China said.
The project will be discussed with a working group established by the Serbian government and may be launched in April if an agreement is reached on all issues, the council said in a statement on Friday.
The construction works are expected to take four years, the council said.
The refinery will produce fuels under the Euro 6 standards.
Companies from Germany and the U.S. will participate in the production of equipment for the refinery, it added.
