August 25 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government has said it is in talks with Chinese companies for the construction of a section of Corridor XI, connecting Preljina to Boljare, on the border with Montenegro.
Chinese companies have also expressed interest in participating in the construction of a road connecting Corridor X to Corridor XI, between Preljina and Pojate, the government said in a statement on Thursday.
During a meeting with China's ambassador to Serbia, Li Manchang, Serbian infrastructure minister Zorana Mihajlovic praised the work of Chinese companies done on sections of Corridors X and XI so far, the government said.
Corridor X will connect Salzburg in Austria to the Greek port of Thessaloniki, passing through Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Macedonia. In Serbia, the project includes the construction of the Belgrade bypass motorway, as well as two separate sections, linking Nis to Levosoje, near the border with Macedonia, to the south, and to the border with Bulgaria to the east.
Corridor XI is a ferry/motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade.
