May 24 (SeeNews) - Chinese company Zhongya Real Estate plans to invest some 20 million euro ($22.4 million) in the Zagorje Hotel in Kumrovec, some 60 km from Croatia's capital Zagreb, local media reported on Friday, quoting the company's founder Jiang Yu.
Earlier this month, Zhongya Real Estate offered to pay 1.9 million euro for the Zagorje Hotel, above the call price of 1.6 million euro requested by the state. The Croatian government is yet to decide whether to accept the offer.
"I think that this area is suitable for congress and health tourism," Jiang Yu said, as quoted by Croatian private TV channel N1. The Chinese company would like to develop year-round tourism in Kumrovec, Yu added.
The state-owned Zagorje Hotel is a former political school building with a total area of 27,000 square metres.
