March 30 (SeeNews) - Serbia's prime minister Aleksandar Vucic has said China's Hainan Airlines is ready to launch a direct Belgrade-Beijing flight, public broadcaster Radio Televizija Srbije (RTS) reported.
Serbia expects to receive a slot for a direct flight on the route on Thursday or on Friday, RTS quoted Vucic as saying to reporters on Wednesday.
"I have spoken with the director of Hainan on numerous occasions. They are ready to launch this route," Vucic said.
Direct flights on the Belgrade-Beijing route will be of significant economic importance for Serbia, as it would bring at least 10,000 more Chinese tourists to the country annually, Vucic added.
Serbia's president Tomislav Nikolic is paying an official visit to China on Thursday and Friday.
