SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), July 6 (SeeNews) – China's Dongfang Electric Corporation is interested in the construction of the 160 MW Dabar hydro power plant (HPP) in Bosnia, the Balkan country's Foreign Investment Promotion Agency (FIPA) said on Thursday.
Representatives of Dongfang have submitted a letter of intent for this project to the government of Bosnia's Serb Republic, FIPA said in a monthly newsletter.
The Dabar power station will be part of a planned 250 MW hydro power complex, Gornji Horisonti, which is designed to also incorporate two smaller plants, Nevesinje and Bileca.
Bosnian civil engineering and water engineering company Integral Inzenjering launched works on the plant's water supply tunnels in September 2016.
Bosnian state-owned hydro power producer Hidroelektrane na Trebisnjici (HET) is the sole owner of the Dabar hydro power plant (HPP). HET is one of three hydro power groups under the umbrella of the Serb Republic's power utility Elektropriveda Republike Srpske. The other two are located on the banks of the Drina and Vrbas rivers.
Dongfang was the main contractor in the construction of the 300 MW Stanari thermal power plant some 70 km east of Banja Luka, in the Serb Republic - one of two entities that make up Bosnia. The other is the Federation.
