July 9 (SeeNews) - Montenegro expects China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) to complete the construction of the Smokovac-Metesevo section of the Bar-Boljare motorway by the end of November, capital investments minister Mladen Bojanic said on Friday.
"Accelerated works and greater engagement of contractors give ground for optimism that this section of the highway will be completed on time, by November 30, 2021," Bojanic said in his Twitter profile.
In May 2020, CRBC applied for an extension of the deadline for the completion of the section, which was initially set on September 30, 2020, due to the coronavirus crisis. A total of 88% of construction works on the section were completed at the time.
The Bar-Boljare motorway is part of pan-European Corridor XI, a ferry/motorway corridor linking Italy's Bari to Romania's Bucharest via Montenegro's Bar port and Serbia's Belgrade.
